Sustainable growing sustainable growing practices

The principles of conservation and preservation were built into our growing process from the start, back in 1998. Our whole process, from the flower stage right through shipping, takes into consideration our impact on the environment. Whether it's using recycled paper in our packing boxes or minimizing our food miles so our carbon footprint is smaller, we feel there's no step too small to take. You could say we're sustainable by design. So our tomatoes don't just taste better, they're better for our small patch of the planet. We sum it up this way:

Here's how we're keeping our greenhouse green:

A Eco-friendly predator insects are used to control harmful pests
B Rain water captured on our roof is stored in our pond for use in the greenhouse
C The rain water is filtered and recycled for plant irrigation
D Emission-free electric carts collect and transport the harvested tomatoes ready for shipping
E A biomass boiler burning waste wood heats the greenhouse instead of fossil fuels or electricity
F Carbon dioxide emissions from the boiler are recycled and the CO2 is used to increase photosynthesis and plant production

self-sustained greenhouse waste-wood boiler recycle carbon emissions
